Jeff's Philosophy of Government

Jeff firmly believes in limiting the role of government at all levels.

Elian Gonzalez is 'helped' by an armed government agent.

"A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicity."
- Thomas Jefferson, 1801

"That the sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property, and when the government assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression."
- Alabama Constitution 1901 Art. I Sec. 35
